THANEDARThanedar is located in shimla district in the state of himachal Pradesh, India. It is located at a height of 7,250 feet. The apples are produced in Thanedar and this place is fruit bowl of himachal Pradesh. From the top of the thanedar the one can see the beautiful look of snow capped mountains with amazing cool breeze with variety of wild life and forest.


Samuel stokes and his apples:

The Samuel satyanand stokes planted the first apple seed in this region and he started the production of apples in India. During Samuel stokes region 1882-1946 the apple production was raised in olden days. When he visited to kotgarh from Philadelphia in 1904 he was deeply moved by the poverty and cultures because of the tradition and climate he decided to stay back in India.


He planted the seeds in 1916 in barobagh which he brought from America. During 1927 these apples where taken to the shimla and the he convinced the local farmers to plant the apple seeds and he gave free of apple trees. He agreed to administrate of marketing and transport.
